It was so soft that Donovan needed to lean down, her ear to his mouth, to make out the rest of his words “Don”t . . . cry . . . angel . . .” he whispered. “Least I got to . . . see you again. I’ll be waiting for you. But . . . don't meet me too quickly . . . okay?”
